Monetization
HELIX gives creators real ways to earn from their work through LIX, the platform's currency. Players buy LIX and spend it in your worlds -- and you can cash out your earnings for real money.
What Is LIX?
LIX is the universal currency across all of HELIX. Think of it like Robux -- players purchase LIX with real money, then spend it on packages, in-world items, game passes, and more. As a creator, the LIX you earn flows directly into your creator balance.
Setting Up Monetization
To start earning, you need to:
- Enable monetization in your world settings through the HELIX Hub.
- Set up a creator payout account -- link your payment details so you can withdraw earnings.
- Define your offerings -- decide what you're selling and at what price.
What Can You Sell?
There are several ways to monetize your world:
- Vault packages -- Sell scripts, assets, game modes, or UI kits on the Vault. Set a LIX price and earn from every purchase.
- In-world purchases -- Sell items, abilities, cosmetics, or access passes directly inside your world. Players can buy things through in-game UI you build.
- Game passes -- Offer one-time purchases that unlock premium features or VIP access.
- Subscriptions -- Set up recurring LIX charges for ongoing perks.
Pricing Your Content
When setting prices, keep in mind:
- Know your audience. Casual worlds with younger players do better with lower price points and high volume.
- Offer value. Players are happy to spend when they feel they're getting something meaningful.
- Use tiered pricing. Give players options -- a basic tier and a premium tier work well together.
- Don't lock core gameplay behind paywalls. Players leave worlds that feel pay-to-win. Monetize cosmetics, convenience, and extras instead.
Creator Payouts
The LIX you earn can be converted to real money. Here's the flow:
- Players spend LIX in your world or on your Vault packages.
- Your creator balance increases.
- Once you hit the minimum payout threshold, you can request a withdrawal.
- Funds are transferred to your linked payment account.
HELIX takes a platform fee on transactions (displayed transparently in the Hub), and the rest is yours. Payout schedules and minimums are detailed in your creator dashboard.
Best Practices
- Be transparent. Show players what they're buying before they spend LIX.
- Test your pricing. Start with moderate prices and adjust based on conversion data in your analytics.
- Reward engagement. Give free players a taste of premium content so they're motivated to buy.
- Keep it fair. Worlds that balance free and paid content build bigger, more loyal communities.
